Cape Town - Baroka FC coach Kgoloko Thobejane has made a bold statement by predicting his team won't be relegated at the end of the Premiership season.

This is not the first time Thobejane has raised eyebrows this season, as it was he who said last August that his charges would dethrone Mamelodi Sundowns and win the title.

With three games remaining, Baroka are second from bottom, two points clear of Highlands Park, and level with Chippa United, but but they did pick up a morale boosting point against the champions on Thursday, giving themselves a lifeline.

"The point against Sundowns is important for survival because half a loaf is better than nothing," he was quoted by SowetanLive website.

"We can't say we are happy but we have to accept the result and move on.

"We are equal on points with Chippa United and the pressure is on them. We are going up and not down, we will stay in the league during our last three matches that are remaining," said Thobejane.

The draw against the national and continental champions will no doubt have given Thobejane's men a major boost in belief, and with games against Golden Arrows, Highlands and Ajax Cape Town remaining, they will be confident they can climb up to safety.

"It will boost our morale but sometimes there is this thing that players give their all when they play against the so-called big teams, and when they go to the so-called small teams they become complacent," said Thobejane.

"But it is our duty as the technical team to motivate and encourage them all the time because this is our bread and butter," he said.
