Cape Town - After beating Ajax on Saturday, Baroka FC coach Milton Dlamini is confident his side will make a positive start to their promotion-relegation campaign.

Bakgaga's 1-0 win over the Urban Warriors in their final top flight game of 2016/17 ensured they escaped automatic relegation back to the National First Division (NFD), the fate which befell Highlands Park.

But having ended 15th, the Limpopo club must now win the play-offs involving Black Leopards and Stellenbosch FC, the clubs which finished second and third in the NFD, in order to stay in the top tier.

They begin their quest by taking on Stellenbosch at the Athlone Stadium on May 31, Wednesday (kick off is at 15:00).

And in order to maximise their preparations, Baroka elected to remain in the Mother City in between the two games rather than return home.

"We decided to stay over in Cape Town because there's a lot to consider when it comes to climate because the conditions are different here," Dlamini said after the Ajax match.

"We had to acclimatise and I can tell you the win over Ajax has helped us a lot. We have boosted our morale and we will give our best against Stellenbosch.

"Look, we have young players who want to make a name for themselves in the PSL, they see Baroka as the right team to realise such dreams with.

"As coaches, our role is to ensure they do not become complacent and we must push them to fight for a win - all in all, we are ready for the play-offs."
