Cape Town - Shaun Bartlett knows the massive task he has in front of him as he attempts to help University of Pretoria avoid relegation from the Premiership this season.

Bartlett, who took over the coaching reins from Sammy Troughton last week, saw his team lose 2-0 to Platinum Stars away from home on Sunday.

The loss at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium sees Tuks sitting second from bottom in the league table with only 12 points from 16 games.

A prolific striker for South Africa in his day, Bartlett feels they need to pick up maximum points as quickly as possible to climb the table.

Bartlett said: "For us right now it's to make sure we gather points as quickly as possible.

"I took the job, I knew the risk and I knew exactly what was needed. My job for the next four months is to get the team as high as possible.

"Every game we will play is a cup final and I believe the players we have can do the job. We've got two more opportunities in the next five days. We've got Free State Stars on Wednesday and Pirates on Saturday."
