Cape Town - SuperSport United coach Stuart Baxter admits he had major doubts over reaching the Nedbank Cup final when Chippa United took the game to penalties.

Goalkeeper Ronwen Williams was the hero for Matsatsantsa as he saved two spot-kicks, after the semi-final at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium ended goalless after extra-time.

And Baxter concedes he was under the impression the Chilli Boys would punish them for their lack of cutting edge and prevent them from defending their title in the final.

"They led us on a merry dance through 15 minutes before half-time and 15 minutes after half-time," he said after the match.

"I didn't think they were that dangerous but what it was, was that they had the ball, they had momentum and so we changed it at half-time to go 4-3-2-1.

"We got a hold of the game again and I think that continued through extra time. I was just seeing chances coming and going and thinking 'it's not going to be our night, we're going to go into penalties and we going to lose it'.

"But then, I've got to say, the lads showed great character."

SuperSport will meet Orlando Pirates after the Buccaneers narrowly beat Golden Arrows 1-0 courtesy of a Abbubaker Mobara header.

The Nedbank Cup final will take place on Saturday, June 24.

The PSL will communicate all other ticket pricing and information in due course.
