Cape Town - New SuperSport United coach Stuart Baxter will have the final say on signing Nigeria international Ejike Uzoenyi.

His parent club, Mamelodi Sundowns, are open to offers for the attacker after opting not to register the player at the beginning of the season.

United CEO Stan Matthews said Uzoenyi will continue training with the team while Baxter awaits his work permit.

"We've got one foreign spot available and Uzoenyi is training with us," Matthews told KickOff.

"He is a player that excited us when he played during the CHAN. He will bring an extra dimension on the left-hand side where we are lacking at the moment.

"But I won't make that signing until Stuart sees the player and works with him and is comfortable enough to say use your last foreign spot on him. Otherwise for now we will keep that foreign spot open.

"So Stuart will come in and make that kind of decision and Sundowns have indicated that they will give me that extra week and we have to wait and see on that."
