Sifiso Hlanti and Anthony Akumu were drafted into the Chiefs starting lineup, while Onismor Bhasera, Keanan Phillips, Sipho Mbule and Ghampani Lungu came into the SuperSport starting lineup.
In the 11th minute, SuperSport threatened. Iqraam Rayners did well down the left wing to win another corner for Matsatsantsa. Sipho Mbule delivered and Teboho Mokoena glanced a header just wide.
Mbule's shot then deflected just wide before Chiefs responded as Bernard Parker's effort was well saved by Matsatsantsa shot-stopper Ronwen Williams after being played in by Keagan Dolly.
SuperSport nearly took the lead soon afterwards. Mbule's shot from outside the box took a deflection and fell kindly for Rayners but it was just out of reach for the striker to tap into an open net.
The Amakhosi grabbed the lead in the 45th minute. Dolly played a slide-rule pass for Parker, who fired the ball past Williams with the Bafana Bafana shot-stopper getting a hand to it on its way in, which will go down as an error.
SuperSport responded on the stroke of half-time when Mbule's free-kick delivery from the right-hand side was glanced into the bottom left corner by Thamsanqa Gabuza.
Chiefs restored their lead five minutes after the break when Dolly played an identical slide-rule pass to his first assist once again for Parker, who slotted in at the far post for his second and in the process become Amakhosi's top goalscorer in the PSL era.
Kaitano Tembo's side went in search of a response. It was great pressure and persistence applied down the left wing by Bhasera and the loose ball fell to Mbule, whose effort sailed over the bar.
Luke Fleurs then had a chance to level matters but his header from Mbule's set piece sailed over. Jesse Donn was then the latest SuperSport player to try his luck but blazed his effort over the bar as Tembo's side suffered a rare loss.
