Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs have provided an injury update on defender Eric Mathoho in addition to three other first-team players ahead of the 2016/17 Premiership campaign.

Mathoho sustained an ankle injury against Denmark whilst on national team duty with South Africa at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

"We are waiting for the final report on the ankle. Thereafter a decision will be taken on how best to treat the ankle," the club's official website reported.

The Naturena based-outfit will be boosted by the imminent returns of Siphiwe Tshabalala and Keagan Buchanan, according to the club's medical team.

"Shabba should be back in full training in the next couple of days. Keagan is training and he"s on track to be back to full training with the squad towards the end of August," the statement continued.

Togolese forward Abraw will however miss the 2016/17 season, after a knee operation.

"Abraw had a successful operation on his knee. The full rehabilitation will take about nine months."
