Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs chairman Kaizer Motaung has admitted the club spoke to Bafana Bafana head coach Stuart Baxter about a possible return to Naturena.

However, Amakhosi's hands were tied due to Baxter's contract with the South African Football Association (SAFA), which will only expire after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

"The talks must have taken place here and there but there wasn't really anything we could come up to because he (Baxter) is still contracted to SAFA," Motaung was quoted as saying by SowetanLIVE.

Chiefs appointed Giovanni Solinas in the off-season to replace Steve Komphela, but Motaung recently admitted that the Italian was not their first choice.

Life under Solinas has not got off to an ideal start, with the Glamour Boys picking up four points from their opening five Premiership games.

Chiefs will hope to bounce back when they return to action after the international break against Cape Town City on Saturday at Cape Town Stadium.
