Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs are said to be interested in signing Orlando Pirates' out-of-favour midfielder, Lehlogonolo Masalesa.

The 24-year-old does not appear to have a future with Bucs and is currently training within the club's youth structures. Bucs coach Muhsin Ertugral recently admitted that the player was waiting to meet with the chairman, Dr Irvin Khoza, to determine his next move.

The player seems to be firmly out in the cold as his customary number 12 jersey was worn by Bernard Morrison during the recently completed Soweto derby.

Nonetheless, according to a Soccer Laduma report, Masalesa is on the radar of Chiefs with Premier Soccer League new boys Cape Town City also said to be interested.

The publication's source confirmed the interest shown in the central midfielder, "Chiefs do want him, but the player is assessing his options. There has been talk of a move to Cape Town City, but it seems they have already added to their midfield."

Masalesa's career has never really taken off with Bucs and last season he made just 10 league appearances.

It's thought that 'Vieira' could challenge the likes of Willard Katsande, Keagan Buchanan, George Maluleka and Enocent Mkhabela for a spot in Chiefs' central midfield department.
