Cape Town - Although Kaizer Chiefs are serving a supporter ban on fixtures at Moses Mabhida Stadium, this will not apply for the Telkom Knockout quarter-final against SuperSport United.

Amakhosi will host Matsatsantsa at the iconic venue on Sunday and acting Premier Soccer League (PSL) CEO Mato Madlala has explained that the match will be open to the public, as it is not an Absa Premiership game.

Chiefs were ordered by the PSL Disciplinary Committee to play three home fixtures at Moses Mabhida Stadium behind closed doors, with one of those matches suspended for 24 months, as a result of unruly fan behaviour in last season's Nedbank Cup semi-final loss to Free State Stars.

“It will not [be behind closed doors], that's how I've been advised. The cup game is not their game, even though they've got home advantage," Madlala told KickOff website on the clash with Kaitano Tembo's charges.

“So, this is specific to their home games, but the cup is not their own game, where they pocket the money.

“It does not fall under the banned games. Yes, [the Nedbank Cup game was a cup game] but the decision rests with the tribunal that said, 'the league games'.”

Chiefs lost 1-0 to Polokwane City behind closed doors at Moses Mabhida Stadium on October 6 and are scheduled to serve the second match of their supporter ban against Chippa United on 10 November.

Meanwhile, Chiefs will meet Matsatsantsa on Sunday with the match starting at 15:00.
