Cape Town - Cape Town City have played down talk that Robyn Johannes is set to join Wits and are expecting the defender to sign a new deal.

Johannes' contract with the Citizens expires in six months’ time, which means he is free to start negotiations with any interested parties.

There has been speculation that he could be on the way to the Clever Boys, but City boss John Comitis has dismissed such rumours and says that the Cape club have offered him a very good deal to stay.

"Robyn is not going to Wits. There is a big offer on the table for the captain," Comitis told KickOff website.

The Cape Town team have already seen striker Lehlohonolo Majoro leaving for Bidvest Wits in the current transfer window, while Comitis also confirmed that striker Letsie Koapeng has been released by mutual consent.
