Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns defender Rivaldo Coetzee, the forgotten man of South African football, is hopeful that his injury problems are a thing of the past.

Little less than a year after leaving Ajax Cape Town for Sundowns in a big money move, Coetzee is finally dreaming of making his official debut for the reigning league champions.

This after he spent the 2017/ 18 campaign side-lined through injury, putting a halt on the rapid progress Coetzee had made since being handed his senior national team debut at the age of 17.

Despite still only being 21-years-old, the central defender already has 23 caps for Bafana and just under 100 top flight league and cup games under his belt.

The Kakamas-born defender has confirmed that he is back in training with Masandawana, and spoke of the challenges of being out for so long, as quoted by the Citizen:

"It has been good. I feel like this is where I belong now," Coetzee said. "I am more involved with the team every day. I am happy to be back and training with the team.

"Fitness wise I am still working on it but it is going to take a while. It was very frustrating but it will make me strong. I came here knowing I would not play for the entire season and I had to work hard on rehabilitation."
