Cape Town - Cape Town City owner John Comitis is reportedly in talks with Steven Pienaar's representative with a view to potentially signing the former Bafana Bafana star.

According to The SowetanLIVE website, Comitis held talks with Rob Moore, who has represented Pienaar throughout much of his career.

Nonetheless, the publication reveals that the 35-year-old could move to the Citizens should coach Benni McCarthy agree that he fits the bill.

City are targeting another attacking midfielder although it's yet to be determined whether they would consider the veteran play-maker.

The Johannesburg-born star endured a tough six months at Wits where he failed to become a regular despite reportedly earning close to R500 000-per-month with the Clever Boys.

He was released in December by Gavin Hunt's men and could see a return to the Mother City as one last challenge before retirement.

Comitis and Moore were both involved when in 2001 the player left Ajax Cape Town to join Ajax Amsterdam, and a return to City could be just the move he seeks to end a career that has gone full circle.
