Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns defender Wayne Arendse has revealed that the club want to target the kind of success enjoyed in all competitions by Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The reigning Premiership champions tackle an in-form SuperSport United in the Telkom Knockout quarter-finals on Saturday, and will no doubt look to advance to the semi-finals with a victory over Matsatsantsa.

SuperSport have picked up four wins in a row and recently trounced Orlando Pirates 6-1 in the league. With that said, the Brazilians have previously beaten United on six consecutive occasions, and will face the Stuart Baxter-coached side at home.

In addition, Downs will have the chance to challenge for the Club World Cup in December, after they qualified for the tournament following their CAF Champions League triumph.

The Chloorkop-based outfit could theoretically face Madrid in the final should they win their opening two matches in the event.

Nonetheless, Arendse believes that competing to win in every competition Downs take part is a realistic goal.

He told Soccer Laduma: "We want to win everything! There's no use in saying we want to focus on this and that. Why not just go for everything?

"If Barcelona and Real can do it, what's stopping Sundowns? I think the mentality is that we want to win, so we need to collect points and move up the log."
