Cape Town - Mpumalanga Black Aces coach Muhsin Ertugral admitted that his team was below par after their shock 1-0 loss to struggling University of Pretoria on Sunday.

The Absa Premiership title contenders suffered the surprise defeat at Loftus Versfeld following a sixth-minute strike from Atusaye Nyondo.

Ertugral admits that Aces underestimated the fight within the relegation candidates, who grabbed their third win of the season.

"We lost against a better team. I told the players the whole week, don't win the game before the game. We are going to play against a team that is going to sit back and want to counter," Ertugral told KickOff.

"I don't know how much chances you need to score. I would love to see the stats. I think we had 70 or 80 percent of ball possession and you not score. This game is about scoring, if you can't score, you can't win the game.

"In the end we completely lost how we want to play. I think even if we played 10 hours we couldn't score one goal. These people are fighting for their lives; they deserved to get a point."

AmaTuks are second from bottom in the league standings with 12 points, while Aces are third with 30 points.
