Cape Town - Maritzburg United coach Fadlu Davids has admitted that his side has struggled to fill the void left by the sale of Lebohang Maboe to Mamelodi Sundowns.
Maboe, who was outstanding for the Team of Choice in a historic 2017/18 season, left the club for greener pastures and signed with the Brazilians early in August. He played a pivotal role as Maritzburg finished the campaign in fourth position in the Premiership and also reached the final of the Nedbank Cup for the first time in the history of the club.
The Team of Choice mentor stated that his side must sign three new players in search of a suitable replacement for the 23-year old midfielder.
His side is still winless in the new season after three Premiership games and will host Bidvest Wits in their next match on September 15.
Davids told KickOff: "People don't realise with Lebohang I played him in the holding six and as a number 10. I played him on the right; I played him on the left. He was a multi-functional player. "Basically we have to sign three players to replace him for the jobs he did. But we are looking at bringing in a striker and perhaps another attacking player. I hope to sign two, but if I get only one then I'll be happy with a striker."
