Cape Town - Bidvest Wits midfielder Papy Faty was rushed to hospital after he collapsed in a friendly against SuperSport United.

According to Soccer Laduma, the player will be kept for observation and the reasoning for his collapse remains to be unknown.

Faty came on as a substitute in a game which ended 1-1 following goals from Bongani Khumalo and Joaquim Lupeta.

Wits’ assistant coach, Paul Johnstone tried to explain what had happened on the field of play when Faty collapsed.

"It was it of a scary one. He was standing in the box waiting for a corner and then just collapsed.

"He came around on his own pretty quickly, probably 10 seconds at most, they aren't sure what it was but are keeping him in for observation."
