Kaizer Chiefs head coach Gavin Hunt admits it is harder to engineer positive results without the support of fans.

Amakhosi have some of the most vocal supporters in the Premiership and have become well accustomed to playing in front of thousands of loyal fans at every game.

The continued spread of the coronavirus though means that stadiums throughout the world remain empty, and Chiefs may be suffering disproportionately as a result.

The club's elimination from the MTN8 was followed with just one win from their first three Dstv Premiership matches.

While Hunt has also been unable to strengthen as a result of a FIFA transfer ban, the manager says the lack of fans is also a factor.

He told the SowetanLIVE: "I think it's more a disadvantage [not having fans in the stadiums].

"I think you could see it from last season already, I think they could have helped them get over the line last season certainly.

"For me, I certainly feel from the players that they do miss the support that they normally have behind them, so ja. I don't think it's a two-way thing.

"What the pressure does [from supporters] is to certainly make you more [competitive], I would think it's far easier.

"And I think the bigger clubs do suffer with the big support-base in what's going on. So, ja, for me, it's certainly a big loss not having the supporters there."
