Kaizer Chiefs head coach Gavin Hunt on Thursday said that his team are looking forward to his first Soweto Derby since being appointed against a much-improved Orlando Pirates side in the MTN8 this Saturday.

The two teams clash in the first leg of the MTN8 semi-finals at the Orlando Stadium with a chance for a place in the final and a shot at the R8 million prize.

Hunt, who won the competition back in 2016 with former club Bidvest Wits said his side were looking forward to the contest which will take place under unique circumstances.

"We're looking forward to the game it's right on top of us," Hunt said. "So it's not much time to affect the team too much.

"We'll do a light session tomorrow and then play on Saturday but we're really looking forward to the game.

Hunt played down the significance of the match being his first derby as the new Kaizer Chiefs head coach and instead highlighted the impact of having to play behind closed doors.

"I'm more just trying to get the team right in continuing to work on the team and what I'm trying to instil but I'm used to these kinds of big fixtures.

"But if you look at it, not having fans makes a huge difference so we'll just have to try to continue on our path forward and try to improve the team and results that's all.

Hunt also added how the tournament can be a benefit in gathering momentum in the early stages for the rest of the season.

"The MTN8 is a great opportunity to get yourself in a cup final especially so early in a season, which I always think helps momentum going forward.

"The good thing is we have two games in the semi-final which gives you a certain perspective because of the home and away situation.

"For me, being new at the club it gives me time to find out about the players a bit more every day, every game and try to get us into a way of playing which suits the players that we've got.

"I can't come in here and bash the door down, we've got to figure out a way that works."

Kick-off is at 15:00.
