Cape Town - Bloemfontein Celtic defender Lorenzo Gordinho has insisted that he and Steve Komphela never fell out over his omission from the coach's plans at Kaizer Chiefs.

Gordinho went on loan to Celtic from Amakhosi in January and has shone for Phunya Sele Sele. Ironically, it is under new Celtic coach Komphela, who took over ahead of the new season, that he has found his best form.

In an interview with Soccer Laduma Radio, Gordinho denied that there was ever any bad blood between himself and Komphela and revealed that he holds no grudge against him for offloading him to Celtic.

"What happened with me and Steve at Chiefs was a different time, different situation and different club," he said.

"I can't carry that over into now because if we had ended on worse terms, maybe I wouldn't have been playing now or I wouldn't have been here.

'But me as a person, I can't hold grudges, and he himself, he's a professional - so what happened there happened there, and now we're working together again and it's going well."

Chiefs made no secret of their desire to cut Gordinho's loan deal short and add him to new coach Giovanni Solinas' ranks. The 24-year-old has now admitted that he felt at times as if he was close to a return to Naturena, but he has had to remain committed to his contract with Celtic.

"It came very close [to a return] because Chiefs are the club that owns me and I just think that they wanted me to come back, but I also signed an agreement here to keep me until December," he added.

"It came down to the whole contractual side of the situation and I think that's the main thing. Celtic assured me that they wanted me to stay and they were going to keep my contract here until I'm finished.

"There were those days [when he thought he was about to become a Chiefs player again], a few of them, but through all of that, I still had to go to training, we still had games, I still had to be a part of the team. I just had to keep professional."
