SuperSport United striker Bradley Grobler is eager to win the Golden Boot award this season but is willing to wait until the time is right to complete the season.

All local football matches have been suspended due to the worldwide spread of the novel coronavirus and the South African government's prohibition of gatherings of more than 100 people.

Orlando Pirates' Gabadinho Mhango heads the top scorer list on 14 goals after a scorching start to the campaign. However, his form has cooled off significantly over the last month or so allowing several other marksmen to make up some ground.

One of those men is Grobler, who is currently second in the standings on 12. He is level with Bongi Ntuli at Golden Arrows and Highlands Park striker Peter Shalulile.

"Look it's a difficult time," Grobler said, according to Far Post. "Football has taken a back seat as lives are more important so whether it affects me or not at the end of the day the right decision has been taken to put people's lives first.

"It is always nice to play games week in week out especially when you are in a run of goals.

"In a winning run. I mean this is the very thing and it was the right decision.

"At the end of the day, we are all going through the same. It's not just one player. Everyone will come back with the same mentality. It's still a long way to go."

SuperSport United are third in the Premiership standings on 40 points. They are eight points behind leaders Kaizer Chiefs but have played two more fixtures than them so are effectively out of the title race for this season with just six fixtures left to play.
