Cape Town - Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt believes that several of his players lacked sharpness and fitness during Friday night's 6-0 Nedbank Cup win over Second Division Magesi FC.

The game was the Clever Boys' first in two weeks, their last match before that a 4-3 defeat away to Tanzania side Azam FC in the CAF Confederations Cup.

Speaking after the win against Magesi on Friday night in Johannesburg, Hunt feels his players were affected by the recent international break.

"We look short of a gallop. Some of our players - quite a few of them - certainly were way, way off where they should be," said the 51-year-old.

"But it's expected because they've been out for some time, some of them.

"It was a difficult game once the first half was over, I thought we were going to struggle in the second half, and we did.

"We couldn't get our passing going and then we scored two quickly, it's understandable, but at the end of the day at least we got a little bit of mileage in the legs again and we'll go on from next week."
