Cape Town - Gavin Hunt believes Sibongakonke Mbatha has a great future ahead of him but needs to bide his time for first-team football as Bidvest Wits challenge for the title.

The 18-year old midfielder recently signed for the Students from the esteemed School of Excellence academy after impressing for the side that participated in the Chilean U17 World Cup last year.

Despite his enormous potential, Hunt believes he needs to work hard in training before he gets his chance in the first team as Wits can't afford to give youngsters a chance at this vital stage of the Premiership campaign.

"No, he's not going to be part of the first team now, no. We have 11 [league] games left and that's our focus," the 51-year old told Sowetan Live.

However, Hunt admitted that he will train with the first team and by next season he will allow Mbatha to showcase his talents in the way he's gradually introduced the likes of Phakamani Mahlambi and Phumlani Ntshangase.

"We will slowly integrate him into the team and by June, we will bring him more to the first team," Hunt added. "He's a very good player and he has great potential. I believe in him and I have always believed in youngsters. If they are good enough, they are old enough."
