Cape Town - Gordon Igesund has had his fair share of critics at SuperSport United this season, but indications are that they are turning the corner.

The three-time PSL champions have not won the league since the 2009/10 season and, under Igesund, big things have been expected in 2015/16.

But a slow start to the season saw them battling in the bottom half of the table for most of the year.

Now, a five match unbeaten run has got the Pretoria-based team moving upwards and they will finish 2015 in eighth place, 10 points behind Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits at the top of the table.

“I'm happy where we are at the moment. We won our last three games [won last two in the League], we are unbeaten in five. All three games were away from home,” Igesund said on Kickoff.com.

“You don't go to Ajax Cape Town and win easily, the same with Chippa United and don't play University of Pretoria and win easy as well. We are scoring goals, we are keeping clean sheets, the team is moulding now.”

Igesund also praised the dedication his players had shown through the difficult times.

“I'm happy where we are. These players die for each other out there. I have been in this game for a long time when things going tough you have to stay calm. Collectively you work with the team and it encourages them, give them strength and confidence. You don't become bad players overnight, you don't become a bad team and bad coach overnight.”
