Cape Town - Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt has bemoaned the break in momentum of their title chase caused by the two weeks of international football.

The second-placed Wits are keen to continue their hunt down of log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

In the last month the university club has done well to shrink the gap with Sundowns from a nine point lead to just four points.

The Clever Boys will have to wait three weeks before their next league match against Jomo Cosmos, but will be in action in the Nedbank Cup last 16 against Magesi FC on April 1.

"There is a big break, which everyone will be affected by. With the momentum that we have we would like to play a bit more, but that is obviously not going to happen," Hunt said on the club's website.

"Be that as it may we just have to keep on going, it is not about what you do on the training ground but rather off it.

"I can't concern myself with the gap between Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns. We cannot get ahead of ourselves now because we have a thin squad at the moment. I have to use the squad wisely going forward."
