Cape Town - Wits assistant coach Paul Johnstone has praised ruthless Clever Boys after an impressive 3-1 victory over Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday evening.

Wits are at the summit of the Premiership standings after two games having also put a good show in their opening match beating Free State Stars 3-0.

Johnstone, who has been in charge of the club as head coach Gavin Hunt, serves his three match suspension, admitted that they are over the moon to have hit the ground running in the new season.

He also praised new signings in Dean Hotto, Gift Mutupa and Terrence Dzvukamanja, who were all among the goals in the win over Amakhosi.

Johnstone told Supersport: "We have had a gruelling few weeks in the pre-season. We changed the squad. The guys have been fantastic. We couldn't have asked for a better start.

"The only thing that is important is that next to our name on the points column, it says six and we are over the moon with that.

"We showed our hand tonight. A lot of the new guys coming in showed a great performance.

"Not only from the new guys but the entire team and squad as a whole. If we can carry on like this then there are no complaints."
