Cape Town - AmaZulu head coach Cavin Johnson believes Moeneeb Josephs' captaincy skills will contribute towards a successful season.
The most recent win came on Sunday when Usuthu recovered from an own goal scored by Mbongeni Gumede to beat Free State Stars 2-1 at the King Zwelithini Stadium.
Josephs was handed the Man-of-the-Match award after making a series of fine saves, and when receiving the award, he called upon Gumede to join him.
"That's the leadership qualities that'll take the team to the next level," Johnson told the club's website, before also praising another newly signed player.
"I said this at the beginning of the season, we didn't bring [midfielder] Nhlanhla Vilakazi for nothing. I thought he was outstanding and Moeneeb saved us in the first half," he explained.
"I thought he made two very, very clear saves with the one from Dlamini especially. I thought Dlamini was on goal and he made a save.
"But to be able to remember that when you get the Man of the Match it's not for you, it shows a lot of maturity as far as Moeneeb is concerned."
