Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Willard Katsande has admitted it's crucial his side record a win against fellow title hopefuls Mamelodi Sundowns at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Amakhosi returned to winning ways ahead of the festive break with a 2-1 victory over Bidvest Wits to move up to fourth place in the Absa Premiership standings.

And, having suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Sundowns in the Telkom Knockout final, Steve Komphela's men will undoubtedly be looking to make amends when the Premiership action resumes this weekend.

"We have to win this one," Katsande told the club's official website.

"It's time to climb up the ladder. To get back to where we belong we have to win games."

"That's our home game. We have to win to gain the three points at stake. Of course, we also play to preserve our pride.

"Beating Sundowns will mean that we collect three and they will lose out on three. So this is a six-pointer of a match."

A win for Chiefs would see them move to within two points of Sundowns, although Wits would maintain their five-point lead (over Chiefs) with a victory against Chippa United on Sunday.

Kick-off is at 20:15 on Saturday, January 9.
