Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana believes Ricardo Nascimento's red card worked against them in the match with Highlands Park.

The two teams played out to a goalless draw at Loftus Versfeld Stadium and the Brazilians skipper feels they could have done better if it were not for the red card.

Nascimento was controversially sent off five minutes into the second half after showing dissent towards referee Phelelani Ndaba.

Pitso Mosimane's side was making a return to league action following their return from Morocco, where they played against Wydad Casablanca in the CAF Champions League.

Kekana told SuperSport: "It was a tough match coming from a long trip in Casablanca, but look, we came here and knew that they are going give us a fight.

"We were ready for the fight to be honest, we were just unlucky with the red card, but I think we should take lessons out of this match.

"This is a match where we needed just one goal. We had our chances and should have used one or two. But we cannot complain and just have to take the point and move on."
