Cape Town - Newly signed Bidvest Wits defender Bongani Khumalo says that it was an easy option to team up with former coach Gavin Hunt after his stay at SuperSport United 'didn't work out’.

Khumalo spent six months at SuperSport after his contract with Tottenham Hotspur had come to an end.

But although he has played in eight of SuperSport's 12 matches this season, Khumalo says that he never felt properly settled at the Pretoria club and therefore jumped at the chance to join Wits.

"The six months at SuperSport were a bit of a roller coaster and both parties agreed to part ways," Khumalo told Wits website.

"I personally thought a new fresh start would be great. It happens in football you know, sometimes situations don’t work out the way you want them to. I have moved into a new environment and I believe it will be a better one. It is up to me to make the best of it."

The 29-year-old is confident that he will settle in well within his new surroundings.

"I do know some of the players here already, and I have worked with coach Gavin Hunt before, I am familiar with his style of coaching and what he will expect from me as a player,"  said Khumalo who won three consecutive Absa Premiership titles at SuperSport between 2008 and 2010 with Hunt.

"It is very encouraging when a coach believes in you and your abilities. If you have a coach that believes in you the sky is your limit, actually there is no limit."
