Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs have expressed thanks for the warm support the club received at FNB Stadium against Orlando Pirates in the Soweto derby.

Despite being a largely uninspiring contest, both sets of fans were in fine spirits at Soccer City.

Chances were few and far between, with Hendrick Ekstein wasting Chiefs' best chance when he blazed a volley over the cross bar just before half-time.

Before that, Pirates' Thabo Rakhale was denied by Itumeleng Khune in a one-on-one situation.

After the break, Gift Motupa arguably had the miss of the game when he blasted over from close range.

Nonetheless, despite yet another 0-0 draw in the biggest game of the South African calendar, Khune expressed his gratitude to the supporters.

"Thank you very much for the support good people. I hope you all enjoyed the derby. It's on to the next game," he said on his official Twitter account.

Meanwhile, Chiefs' official account said: "Thank you Amakhosi faithful, travel safe. See you in Durban."

The Glamour Boys face Baroka FC in another Premiership clash on Wednesday at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
