Cape Town - Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo has confirmed his return to training with a post on social media as he continues his recovery after surgery.

In August, the Buccaneers confirmed that the goalkeeper was set to have screws removed from his ankle. At the time, he was expected to miss three to four weeks.

The injury has stayed with Khuzwayo for longer than was planned, but as the Soweto derby on 27 October looms, he may yet be handed his Pirates debut against former side Kaizer Chiefs.

"Feels good to be back. Dumela (good day) happy people," the 28-year-old wrote on social media as a caption for a picture of himself in training.

Pirates signed Khuzwayo after his Kaizer Chiefs contract ran down following the 2017/18 season.

After a six-year spell at the Glamour Boys, which saw him struggle to dislodge Itumeleng Khune from between the sticks, he will be hungry to play against his former club.

Before returning to league action against Amakhosi, the Sea Robbers will face Chippa United in the Telkom Knockout first round on Saturday, October 20.
