Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs head coach Steve Komphela bemoaned a lack of urgency from his players after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Polokwane City at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Rise and Shine broke the deadlock through Thobani Mncwango's headed effort on the half-hour mark, before Erick Mathoho leveled matters with a header of his own just six minutes later.

However, despite dominating proceedings after the half-time break, Amakhosi were unable to find a way past George Chigova, who scooped the Man-of-the-Match award for his heroics in the Polokwane goal.

"In the first-half, we didn't have the right attitude and the right energy," Komphela said in his post-match interview.

"We could have played a bit quicker without showing any signs of desperation.

"But instead we had no sense of urgency, and we had to address that in the dressing room.

"It didn't have anything technical or tactical to do with the game, just a question of getting into the right frame of mind."

When asked about his decision to take off full-back Tsepo Masilela for attacker William Twala in the second half, Komphela added: "We tried to manipulate things.

"We realised they were overloaded in the midfield, so we didn't need a left-back, which is why we took Masilela off for Twala."
