Soweto - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela felt that his side's 2-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup Last 32 on Saturday was not a true reflection of the game.

A closely contested first half ended goalless, but the match sprang to life midway through the second half when Tendai Ndoro fired the Buccaneers in front.

And the striker popped up again shortly thereafter to double his side's lead and put Pirates firmly in the driving seat.

Reflecting on what was ultimately a disappointing performance and result, Komphela said: "I don't know whether I should give my thoughts or feelings.

"It's a very difficult match in the sense that the outcome is not a true reflection of the game.

"We had a great first half and a good second half. We created more chances and you go on and lose a match like that. There are no explanations you can make, you just have to take it.

"I personally would say, we messed up. We should have done better by taking those chances. We need to improve.

"But we played great football. For the better part of the match they had no solution for our movement.

"The only two mistakes we made were the two goals we conceded. We pay the price for that."
