Cape Town - Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has praised Siphiwe Tshabalala for being brave to follow his dream in making a surprise move to Turkey at the age of 33.

Amakhosi announced earlier this week that Tshabalala will join Turkish side BB Erzurumspor, after 11-years of service to the Soweto giants.

The midfielder has been with the Glamour Boys since he joined from Free State Stars in January 2007 and made 372 appearances for the club.

Komphela, who coached the midfielder for three years at Naturena and also played in Turkey during his playing days, feels Tshabalala story is an inspiration to young footballers in South Africa.

Komphela told SuperSport: "We wish him the very best first. Secondly, there is a statement he made, that he has always wanted to play abroad.

"Just a message to all kids and everybody, say it with your tongue and it will manifest itself. Shabba said it, he is 33 and it's unheard of.

"At the age of 33 from Africa to Europe, I hope he stays there and plays, but it has always been his dream. Follow your dream and it shall come to be true. Just follow your dream, he followed his dream and we wish him the very best."
