Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has given a strong indication that the club will add new players to the squad after admitting weaknesses in certain areas.

The Glamour Boys finished the 2016/17 campaign without a trophy and ended fourth in the Premiership behind Cape Town City, Mamelodi Sundowns, and champions Wits.

Despite a second season in charge without winning silverware, Komphela has reportedly been assured he will remain in control in 2017/18.

As such, the 49-year-old hinted that he wants to bring in some major additions to his squad.

"We'll have to do audits now, and there were areas where I felt we were a bit thin," he told reporters.

"There are things that I think, if we are rectify the mistakes of this season, need to be done.

"That can be done after our audit, but clearly there are quite a few things that need to be rectified.

"In relation to the market, coaches have to be very careful that you don’t start saying things before they are done lest there’s a different outcome.

"Then you’ve put everybody in the system under pressure.

"Yes, we need to rectify certain things, but we need to do that without sending a message saying we are going to buy this player and that player."
