Cape Town - Giovanni Solinas will be looking for his first victory in charge of Kaizer Chiefs in the Absa Premiership when they welcome high flying Bloemfontein Celtic at FNB Stadium.

The two teams will go head-to-head on Wednesday as Steve Komphela comes up against his former employers for the first time since resigning as Amakhosi in April.

Chiefs have struggled to hit the ground running under the Italian mentor, playing out three draws and losing one against Wits in the four matches played so far in the 2018/19 season.

The Glamour Boys' only victory under Solinas came in the MTN8 quarter-finals against Free State Stars and on the weekend managed a 2-2 draw against Supersport in the semi-final first leg tie.

Solinas believes his team have been improving after a slow start and was happy with the performance against Matsatsantsa.

"We need to continue playing in the same manner we did in the second half. That's when we played positively and that's what I like," Solinas stated.

Meanwhile, it's been the opposite for Komphela at Celtic.

He has won all three opening league matches since taking over the reins at the club.

The Free State-based outfit clinched a 1-0 win over Orlando Pirates in their last match to make it three victories from their three opening matches of the new season.

They are also yet to concede a goal and Komphela stated that he is pleased with his side's impressive start to the 2018/19 season.

"We are delighted with the results. What is important in the PSL are these points. It gives confidence and belief in the team, and there is going to be faith," Komphela said.

"That's all we enjoy, three points, three out of three, clean sheets. They are having fun and we are moving on."

In team news, Wandisile Letlabika is making his way to full fitness after a long absence while Joseph Molangoane is out with a long-term injury and will return next year.

Chiefs are also still without Andriamirado 'Dax' Andrianarimanana, who is waiting for his work permit.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
