Cape Town – Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela admits that his side had guts after securing an all important victory over Bidvest Wits.

It was George Maluleka who struck a thunderbolt free-kick in the 59th minute which ensured Chiefs came out victorious in their encounter at Bidvest stadium.

According to KickOff, Komphela believes Chiefs were more determined than their previous matches and they had to work extremely hard against an attacking Wits side.

"In terms of performance we had guts; there was desire and more determination,” said Komphela.

“Was it something very nice to watch? Might not have been but what is more important is when you wake up tomorrow you have a point away from them and you are nearer to who is on top.”

He added: "We had to be careful. There were things we were wary about. You need grit to get the result in a match of this nature.

"We had to grind out the result in the second half and be careful of the likes of Henrico Botes and Keene."
