Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Anthony Laffor insists the competition for places at the Premiership club is something that motivates him to be part of the team.

The 31-year-old Liberian is on the first-team fringes under 'Downs coach Pitso Mosimane, with the likes of Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly currently keeping him on the substitutes bench.

He has featured just 12 times this season, but is refusing to let the lack of regular action get him down, suggesting it actually motivates him.

"The competition in the team is good," Laffor told Goal website.

"It motivates me to be part of the team. You know everyone in the team has a duty to perform.

"When given that chance to play, we all make sure that we make things work for the team.

"That's why I am always on top of my game when given the chance to play."

Laffor joined Sundowns from Absa Premiership rivals SuperSport United in 2012, and also counts Jomo Cosmos and Ashanti Gold of Ghana among his former teams.
