Cape Town - Golden Arrows head coach Clinton Larsen has praised the invaluable contribution of his assistant Mandla Ncikazi to the team so far this season.

Larsen now understands why Steve Komphela attempted to bring Ncikazi to Kaizer Chiefs during the off-season.

Arrows are joint-top of the Premiership table with Chiefs after a good start to the season with three wins, one loss and one draw.

"I think every person has made a contribution in some way, starting with Mandla next to me. I can now see why Steve Komphela wanted him so badly," Larsen said on the PSL's website.

"Mandla I last worked with him in 2004 in the NFD and he's really grown, so I'm really lucky to have him next to me. Then we've got two young promising coaches in our development setup.

"I think any team will take that. Like Gavin Hunt usually says, that's a championship-winning mentality ratio. So yes, I think we would have jumped at the opportunity.

"You got to really take advantage and try and grab the points when you can. Because when you're down at the bottom, sometimes it can be difficult to catch up. So all-in-all, a pleasing start.

"I've always said this and I may sound like a broken record, but teams do take four or five games to find their feet."
