Cape Town - Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana midfielder Mpho Makola says that he is enjoying his new central midfield role.

Originally an attacking midfielder, Makola has been drafted into central midfield alongside Issa Sarr in recent times by manager Eric Tinkler.

The new role has seen him add to his goal-scoring tally and he is now Pirates' top scorer with seven goals in all competitions so far this season, but the 29-year-old believes that a lot more can still be expected from him.

"Obviously I am really happy with what I have done, individually, so far this season," he told Football411. "I am enjoying the new role that has been given to me and I am enjoying my football.

"I believe it's been a good season and I am happy with my performances and overall progress as a footballer but I feel like I can still do a lot better and that is what I am working hard towards.

"I am someone who likes having the ball at his feet and initiating play and the new role allows me just that as I have more time on the ball, unlike in the wing where one gets isolated now and then.

"I enjoy having the ball at my feet and that is the luxury I am currently enjoying."

Makola's good form of late has also seen him included in Shakes Mashaba's Bafana Bafana squad to play the two back-to-back 2017 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers against Cameroon next weekend.
