Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Maluleka hopes that beating Mamelodi Sundowns will ignite their resurgence in the Absa Premiership.

Chiefs will look to start the year on a positive note after a difficult 2015, where they lost both the MTN8 final and Telkom Knockout final.

Maluleka believes Amakhosi can begin their road to redemption with a victory against title rivals Sundowns at the FNB Stadium this weekend.

"It's a six-pointer game for us. We can't afford to lose this one," the attacking midfielder told Soccer Laduma

"This is a game that we need to win by all means. We are still in the chase to defend our league title and winning against Sundowns on Saturday would bring us back in the quest for the league."
