Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi is aiming for a 71-point tally this season as he aims to defends the club's 2019/20 Premiership title.
Sundowns pipped Kaizer Chiefs to top honours on the final day of last season.
This term the Brazilians have won three and drawn one of their DStv Premiership fixtures, which sees the club head into this weekend's top-flight clash with Stellenbosch in second place on the standings with 10 points from their four games.
They were, however, eliminated from the MTN8 by finalists Bloemfontein Celtic.
But Mngqithi says that may have helped, and was reported by FARPost as saying: "The group is slowly coming together, and we are slowly, slowly getting into the condition where the team got 71 points. We are trying very hard to push for that benchmark.
"I think it helped us when we bombed out of the MTN8 because that was a big surprise for the team. We really wanted to go through.
"However, I still believe we deserved to have won that game, but in football, these things happen. I think that setback galvanised us going to our first league match against Kaizer Chiefs (Sundowns won 3-0) and we have kept that momentum going.
"It is important for Sundowns to keep on collecting points in the early stages of this season."
