Cape Town - Maritzburg United and Black Leopards will renew their rivalry on the first night of matches for the last 32 of the Nedbank Cup.
The teams will meet at the Harry Gwala Stadium on 2 March 2016, kick-off is at 19:30.
Maritzburg have endured a tough season so far and sit at the bottom of the PSL log after winning just two of 20 league matches. However, they have shown some signs of promise in recent times: they were beaten 2-1 at home by Bidvest Wits last week but were arguably unlucky to do so, while their previous two matches were a draw with Platinum Stars and an away win at Bloemfontein Celtic.
Leopards have had a mixed season in the NFD and come into this match sitting in mid-table, with their hopes of gaining promotion back to the top flight hit by a run of five matches without a win. They have lost their last two matches: 0-1 at home to Witbank Spurs and by the same score away to Royal Eagles on Saturday.
This will be the first cup meeting of Maritzburg United and Black Leopards, as well as their first clash in any competition since the 2012/13 season, when Lidoda Duvha were still in the top flight. The teams have faced off in a total of eight PSL matches, with the Limpopo side claiming three wins compared to two for the Team of Choice.
Their most recent meetings in 2012/13 saw the teams play to a 2-2 draw in Limpopo in the first half of the season, before United claimed a 2-1 win at home in the return game.
Maritzburg have never won the Nedbank Cup, nor played in the final. Their best showing arrived in 2014 when they got as far as the semifinals before falling 2-1 to eventual champions Orlando Pirates.
Leopards have also not won the competition, though they famously reached the final as a National First Division side in 2011, where they were beaten 3-1 by Orlando Pirates.
