Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs defender Tsepo Masilela says Amakhosi must tighten up at the back in order to stay in the title race, saying 'trophies are won through solid defence'.

Amakhosi's last two matches ended in a 3-2 defeat to Cape Town City and a 2-2 draw with SuperSport United.

Masilela has called upon his fellow defenders to tighten up the ship as the Glamour Boys head into their final four league matches of the season.

"We've been playing well but a lack of concentration has led to us conceding silly goals and dropping crucial points," he told the club's website.

"As defenders, we need to do much more to ensure that we win matches because trophies are ultimately won through solid defence," the left-back added.

His team-mate, Bernard Parker, remains hopeful that Chiefs can make a late title charge by claiming 12 points from their remaining fixtures.

"We have been training hard and strategising for the game against Arrows," said the striker.

"We need to ensure that we bag all the points and remain in contention for league honours.

"Winning matches is a team effort and we need all departments to give their best so that the supporters can go home with smiles on their faces," Parker added.

Chiefs are eight points behind table-topping Bidvest Wits, with four matches to play.
