Cape Town - With seven goals to his credit already this season, Kaizer Chiefs defender Erick Mathoho is hopeful of adding to his tally in Saturday's Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates.
Mathoho has netted three goals in the league, two in the Telkom Knockout, and two in the CAF Champions League, and could potentially score in the Nedbank Cup when Amakhosi take on Pirates in a Round of 32 encounter at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
While expressing his confidence in the team's more attack-minded players, Mathoho admits he always enjoys getting his name on the score-sheet.
"Scoring goals makes me happy, however, it's thanks to my teammates that I get goal scoring opportunities," he told his club's website.
"The supply has been excellent from, among others, Siphiwe Tshabalala.
"It won't be easy (against Pirates), however we want to progress to the next round of the Nedbank Cup. We just have to be ready and we will fight to achieve our goal."
Mathoho is Chiefs' second-highest scorer, behind George Lebese, who has found the net eight times. The former Bloemfontein Celtic defender has already scored against Pirates this season, in a 3-1 defeat.
Kick-off is at 15:00.
