Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town coach Stanley Menzo hopes the pressure built by poor results will sting his players into action against Bidvest Wits.

The Urban Warriors have endured a tough start to the season and are third from bottom on the Absa Premiership table with the same number of points as rock-bottom Wits, their opponents in Johannesburg on Wednesday night.

The Students though are the defending league champions and won the Telkom Knockout last weekend.

Menzo feels the best approach now is for his players to face up to their situation and to take responsibility.

"I hope the players feel the pressure, as the pressure is there," he told the media.

"It's a normal thing in football, and you have to deal with the pressure. As coaches we try keep the pressure as low as possible, but it's urgent in this moment, so they have to deal with the pressure and be sure that we focus on doing the things we can do.

"And now I've heard their [Wits'] whole back four is back," the Dutchman said in reference to a reinvigorated Clever Boys defence which has had several players returning from injury.

"But we have to handle that, I always say we have to think about ourselves. They're a team that have been given a lift, a boost as they won the cup final, but you can't change that – we have to deal with it."

The action gets underway Tuesday evening from the Bidvest Stadium at 19:30.
