Cape Town - Platinum Stars captain Vuyo Mere has revealed that his positional shift from right-back to central-midfield has been positive as he has played there before.

The 32-year-old seasoned campaigner says he has no qualms with plying his trade in midfield because of his previous experience in the position.

"It’s been a positive role for me. The coach saw that maybe I have got potential to play there in the middle. It’s nothing new. I have played there before," he told the club's official website.

"I will take the opportunity with both hands. I will do what I do best. I am hoping I will improve on my performances."

Mere has featured twice for Dikwena this season in his new role - garnering a league victory against SuperSport United, while conceding a 2-0 defeat to Chippa United in the MTN8 quarter-finals.

"It was positive start against SuperSport because we played against a team that was supposed to be one of the league contenders."

"We got the three points and we were looking forward to build on that but against Chippa it wasn’t to be. We were disappointed. We had to go back to training and try rectifying our mistakes against Chippa."

"The sooner we forget about Chippa the better. It was a good wake up call. When we won against SuperSport we thought we would walk into the pitch and that everything was going to happen automatically."

"We can now focus on the league. We can take the positives and improve on them," he concluded.
