Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic has revealed that Musa Nyatama is causing him a selection headache, having impressed against Baroka.

Nyatama, who has struggled for game time this season in a team loaded with capable midfielders, came on as a late substitute for youngster Augustine Mahlonoko during the Buccaneers' 2-1 victory on Saturday.

"I must tell you that we chose our team based on merit," Sredojevic was quoted as saying by IOL, explaining why Pirates' current player of the season has struggled to break into his team of late.

"Everyone is equal in our team. When you are not chosen it means you are pushing others that are playing - the season is long and everyone will have time to play.

"We are purely selecting not based on good names or sentiments of the past, but their present competitive form.

"Musa Nyatama has come from a spell of injuries and whatever. In this game (against Baroka), he has knocked on the door and told us: 'I am there and I want to increase the competitiveness in the department.'

"When we brought him on, he showed seniority and maturity to slow things down help us calm the game a bit."

Bucs had gone 2-0 up thanks to goals from Vincent Pule and Thembinkosi Lorch, only for Onkabetse Makgantai to pull one back shortly before Nyatama's introduction.

The Soweto giants are next in action against Golden Arrows at the Orlando Stadium on October 3.
