Cape Town - Polokwane City striker Thobani Mncwango says he is over the disappointment of his failed move to Orlando Pirates during the off-season.

Mncwango rose to prominence last season with a four-goal haul in a 4-1 win over Supersport United, and went on to score 13 goals for the season.

His exploits for Rise and Shine caught the attention of Orlando Pirates and national team selectors as he impressed for the struggling Premiership outfit.

However, after the move failed to materialise before the end of the transfer window, the former Baroka FC striker admitted it was hard to come to terms with staying at Polokwane - after setting his heart on a move to the Soweto giants.

"I can safely say I was ready to move to Pirates. I thought when I went home during the off-season I had this in me because my hopes were high on the back of my performance last season," he told KickOff.

"When I found out that I'm not joining them I started to have strange feelings but I was quick to overcome that. I realised that when I was alone that if I don't play I will be denting my career.

"That realisation helped me to overcome that. But I can assure you it was not easy and it wasn't easy for me to focus.

"I decided and I thought to myself that if the move does happen in the near future let me just focus on my football.

"And that has helped me a lot and I have continued to play my football. I have now overcome my challenges and you can see I got a call-up for Bafana Bafana again."
